Conrad Zagory, Jr.


Biography:

B.A. in Literature, Antioch College, 1970

M.A. in Japanese Language and Literature, Stanford University, 1974

Conrad lived, studied and worked in Japan for twenty years. While an undergraduate at Antioch he studied at Waseda University in Tokyo during the 1967-68 academic year. After returning to Japan in 1972 as a graduate student, he spent a year in intensive language study in Tokyo where he completed his Masters Thesis on Eleventh Century Narative Literature. Conrad then began a ten-year apprenticeship in ceramics at the Odo-kiln in Kochi City. From 1983 until 1991 he was the Full-Time Foreign Lecturer at Kochi Medical School, after which he and his family moved to Yellow Springs. Last year he taught Japanese at Antioch College and is presently teaching composition at Central State University.
